Not again...
Now many of you will have seen news coverage of the plane that skidded off the runway in central Java. Once again, a long way away so don't worry. It's a little frustrating that the news only covers disasters in Indonesia and not the stuff that's going well. It's like there's an earthquake in California, and a plane skidding off the runway in Texas, and I'm in Chicago. It's obviously not a good thing, but just keep it in perspective - I'm fine!

It's true, we're morons (at least the particular "we" of which on this issue I am a member). I heard about the earthquake and dashed off an e-mail to Bill asking if you're okay (a redux of the question I asked vis-a-vis the flooding). I think it's because for someone like myself you are literally the ONLY connection I have to Indonesia -- and so I hear "Indonesia" and think "Tom."
Don't worry about it - nice to know you're thinking of me! I'm having a great time, very busy but the good kind of busy, and surrounded by people who care about me.
I just find it amusing; Lockean association of ideas in action. ("Tristram Shandy" might be my favorite novel.)
